Owing to the lack of tree-cover on their territory and the rabbits and quick-footed rodents that live in the fields and moorland that make up their home, MoorClan cats are the swiftest of the four Clans. With the only covering for a MoorClan cat being the long grasses that grow all over the territory and the very rare tree, a feline of this Clan cat must be silent and skilled at stalking to creep up on its prey. Once in range of their quarry, few Clan cats can match the speed that a hunting MoorClan cat can put on.

MoorClan shares its borders with WillowClan and, much father to the north, CloudClan A twoleg barn sits at the outskirts of their territory and is the best source of catmint in all the territories. MoorClan cats be warned - a large collie dog patrols the grounds of his farm, and a Twoleg has been spotted going in and out of the barn on a daily basis. Aside from threats from Twolegs, cats in this Clan must also be wary of the eagles and hawks that circle over the fields in search of an easy meal.

A small river trickling down from the mountainous territory of CloudClan, narrow enough to leap over or wade through without getting more than one's paws wet in most places, provides MoorClan with its water source. Unlike StormClan cats, the cats of MoorClan are poor swimmers, as they are more accustomed to weaving through the grasses and heather in their territory, but some can swim decently in slow-moving waters provided it is not over their heads. There is a wide and somewhat deep point in MoorClan's river, but every apprentice is taught to steer clear of this point, lest they get too far in and drown. Many a MoorClan cat of the past has drowned in their foolhardy quest to catch a fish.

MoorClan's prey consists of the harvest mice, field mice, moles, shrews (should a MoorClan cat be lucky enough to chase one down), field voles, and rabbits that run in the fields of their territory. Sometimes, if a MoorClan cat is fast enough, they can catch an errant sparrow or finch here and there.
